Dearest Patients,
Since initiation of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, the healthcare system has declined exponentially. I have continued to accept Insurance under the good faith promised to me by my contracts with the insurance companies. These companies continuously find ways to avoid or delay paying providers such as myself. Unfortunately the old days of medicine are over. Many providers have left their private practices to join corporate medicine. Their patients collectively become a number instead of a human being. No one likes this. In addition to giving up their practices, Physicians also give up their freedom. When Healthcare became an industry, just like with all other big businesses, the corporate management established a bottom line. It's sad to say that their bottom line is solely monetary. i.e. How many patients can a physician see in one day? If Physicians can't meet these ridiculous quotas they are reprimanded or fired. Consequences are tired and burned out Physicians with less and less time with patients, increased risk of harm due to Medical errors, and overall poor quality Medical Care.
I am a wonderful physician who actually cares about my patients. I have not and will not sacrifice patient care. I take my ethical oath of non-malfeasance very seriously and it is dangerous, poor quality and overall wrong to practice medicine this way. With that said, I have thought long and hard about the future direction of my practice. I can no longer continue to operate under “good faith” hoping that the insurance companies might pay me when they make me fight for every penny. If I do not make this change now, then there will be no practice in the future. I understand that this change will affect some patients and not everyone will be able to remain a patient at this practice. If you will need to find a new provider you can find one at https://www.bayfrontcharlotte.com. Once you choose your new physician, you will need to sign a records release to allow me to send your records. I will send your records directly to your new provider at no charge. If you wish to obtain a hard copy of your records, then a fee of $0.25 per page will be required.
